There's a God in My Closet
Encountering the Love Who Embraces Our Skeletons
Author Ben DeLong
Forward: Brad Jersak
Many have been taught to see God as a terrifying agent of wrath who spews anger at any sign of imperfection. At the same time, they’ve been taught that they are inherently flawed and devoid of goodness. Where does that leave us? For Ben DeLong, it left him hiding his skeletons from the monster he believed God to be. This proved to be a perfect recipe for anxiety, depression, and insecurity. But what if God accepts our skeletons? What if he actually embraces them in love? How would that change our outlook? For Ben, it changed everything. This book is about his journey to find what was always true: we are eternally embraced by God, skeletons and all, and he is never letting go

Voices In My Head Podcast Episode 325: The Jewish View of Creation
This episode of Voices In My Head dives into the Creation/Evolution debate from a different perspective than most evangelicals endeavor, the Jewish Perspective.
So many of our debates and insecurities about things like creation and evolution could be ended if we simply consulted the Jewish faith to help us understand the book that was originally theirs.
This is an episode much from the Jewish perspective of the conversation using the scholarship of one of the greatest Old Testament scholars of our time, Walther Brueggeman, and a Jewish Rabbi who wrote the text still in use today for young Jewish people in their confirmation, Roland Bertram Gittelsohn.

Voices In My Head Podcast Episode 318: Dr. Julie Galambush - Hidden Truths: Why Translators Intentionally Mistranslate the Bible
This podcast was recorded on May 1st, 7:30 PM at Temple Sholom in Springfield Ohio. It is a lecture delivered by Dr. Julie Galambush. Dr. Galambush is the author of The Reluctant Parting: How the New Testament’s Jewish Writers Created a Christian Book. She received her Ph.D. in Old Testament studies from Emory University and her master of divinity degree from Yale Divinity School.
The Lecture: Hidden Truths: Why Translators Intentionally Mistranslate the Bible
Translators often choose between showing readers what the Bible does say and what they believe it should say. Strangely, the very fact that translators often believe in the Bible’s authority means they tend to “correct” it--making it say what it should, even when it says something very different. So, what is it that translators don’t want you to know?

Voices In My Head Podcast Episode 314: Calvary Movie Reflection
This week is Holy Week 2019 and as I have done every Holy Week since 2014 when it released, I am revisiting the film Calvary and sharing some reflections on the film.
Disclaimer #1: The audio on today's episode turned out to not be great. I'm not sure why there is so much background noise on the audio but given the nature of the episode I couldn't rerecord it so it is what it is.
Disclaimer #2: This is not an endorsement for you to go and see the film Calvary, which is Rated R, and is a very difficult and disturbing film. This episode simply shares my reflections on why the film has been important and formative in my life and why I revisit it each Holy Week.
Disclaimer #3: I am in no way associated with the film, is director, or anyone involved in the making of the film. I'm just a guy who watched it.
