Episode 349: Jaci Velasquez When God Rescripts Your Life: Seeing Value, Beauty, and Purpose When Life Is Interrupted.
From her debut at age 16, Jaci Velasquez experienced a amazing, roller coaster career. She had number one hit songs, platinum albums, Grammy nominations, but almost as quickly as she rose to fame, she lost it all… her record label, her reputation and even her marriage. In her new book, “When God Rescripts Your Life” Jaci shares her journey of ups and downs with grace, humor, and trust that the story God is writing is much richer than any story we could have dreamed of ourselves.

Episode 348: Chris Marchand and Celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas
Buy The Book: https://amzn.to/2QySAG1
The song “The 12 Days of Christmas” is a mainstay of the holiday season, but the practice of celebrating Christmas as a twelve-day festival fell out of fashion long ago in most cultures. In Celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas, author Chris Marchand explores the history behind the season and individual feast days from December 25 to January 6, and then offers suggestions for how you can celebrate it with your family, church, or community. Marchand is an author, a church music leader, a teacher and a Pastor in the Anglican Church of North America and he’s here to discuss his new book with me today.

Her love for people and the local church is evident in her life and songs. Much of her passion has been inspired by her numerous mission trips to Haiti serving the poor and orphaned. It’s the 500th anniversary of the start of the Protestant Reformation.
To “reform” is to improve or amend something that is wrong, corrupt, or unsatisfactory. With that definition in mind we thought it would be a great idea to record a conversation about whether or not there is a need for reformation in Christian music.
If there is anyone qualified to have this discussion it is Dave Trout of UTR Media.
Dave has been in Christian radio in some form or fashion for over 23 years. He has worked for WETN-FM in Wheaton IL, WCFL-FM in Morris IL, Moody Radio, and ReFrame Media. He started the “Under The Radar” radio show in 2008 while working at ReFrame, and in 2014 that show became its own independent non-profit ministry, under Dave’s oversight. In 2017, the organization underwent a creative relaunch, and now produces a wider variety of media projects under the new name, UTR Media. Besides well-crafted music, Dave loves pizza, watching Netflix/Hulu, Apple products, fishing, the Cubs, and driving 5 mph over the speed limit. He lives in Oak Lawn, IL with his wife and 5 children.
Listen in as Dave Trout and Rick Lee James have a great discussion on Christian music and what UTR Media is doing to bring about reformation in the industry through great podcasts, innovative videos, and even producing album.
